Canopy Control Course Date Change! - 2008/03/16 08:39The dates for the canopy control courses have changed; they'll be later in the season so more people can attend.
May 31st - Free Canopy Skills Camp Come learn to have more fun with your canopy while practicing important safety and survival skills. Paul will discuss basic aerodynamics, effective flaring techniques, and help you improve your flight planning, traffic pattern, and accuracy skills. You’ll learn techniques for dealing with problems such as bad spots and off-field landings, as well as becoming more aware of other canopies. learn ways to avoid crowding and confusion in the landing area. This is a great way for newer jumpers to develop good habits and good basic canopy piloting skills. Best of all, it’s free! To sign up, please email joanna@skydivestlouis.com or come by manifest.
June 7th - Free Advanced Canopy Skills Camp This is for jumpers who want to start practicing high-performance landings and for more experienced swoopers who want to improve their consistency and control. Although anyone can attend, you will benefit the most if you are already achieving consistent, comfortable, stand-up landings and feel reasonably confident under canopy. Jumpers who do not want to swoop can still attend and spend the day improving their accuracy skills. To sign up, please email joanna@skydivestlouis.com or come by manifest.

Re:Free Canopy Control Courses (April 19th and 26th) - 2008/03/25 09:29I can not make it to the 1st Canopy Control Skills Camp on the 19th due to prior plans. I do not intend to start swooping any time soon, but the Advanced Canopy Skills Camp sounds interesting. And I would like to know how it's done, strictly for future reference....I have a long way to go before I attempt any high performace landings.
An after thought...Would you be willing to video tape these Camps so that those of us that can not make it can watch the video afterwards? Please?
Re:Free Canopy Control Courses (April 19th and 26th) - 2008/04/02 10:54Pulled the "Old Switcheroo" on me! I'll try to make the May 31st Canopy Control Skills Camp. Unfortunately (or, maybe fortunately) for me, I'll be in Vegas on June 7th for some fun, sun, sin and skydiving. So I can't make it to the Advanced Canopy Skills Camp.....
And, I'm just double checking here, mind you, but you are planning on the Canopy Skills Camp during the Memorial Day Boogie? (May 30th - June 1st - Memorial Day Boogie)
Wait, it jsut dawned on me, both of you suffer from CRS, perhaps you two should talk about this a couple times before the trip...
Hey! Watch your language young lady! Now apologize to all these nice people on The Forum, for using words like SHIT! Oops, my bad, Sorry nice people! LOL
And Ashley, I do remember that (those) conversation(s) with Mark, so Pbbbbbbbt! I've already Emailed Skydive Mesquite in Mesquite Nevada trying to get some information from them. No word from them yet, so I may have to call them.

Remind me Saturday to talk to you about skydiving in LV... Robert and I jumped there two years ago!!! Winds and facilities are an issue...
And, since I can only jump on Saturday morning while in Vegas, I think the winds should still be calm enough, before the afternoon heat starts to cause problems. What issues are there with the facilities? I don't remember that conversation due to my severe case of CRS Syndrome! LOL

Oh, I'm not worried.... You'll forget I said anything before Saturday
Re:Free Canopy Control Courses (April 19th and 26th) - 2008/04/03 17:26Is that a new procedure? Seems like the long way to get there. Maybe the Dentist needs to sneak up on those teeth... Might be a bit painful though.......
