Weekend Recap 8/3/08 - 2008/08/04 10:42
Sometimes to me it feels like just yesterday we were praying the ice would melt off the runway so we could do a hop in pop in a snow suit for a quick fix… It is those crazy winter days I keep reminding myself I hate when I get in the plane and shed 5 pounds of water weight or break a sweat just thinking about packing a main! Yes, it was a hot one this weekend, and I couldn’t be more happy about it!

We started the weekend right with a good amount of excited tandems first thing Saturday morning. We had two tandems who remember the cold, harsh winter pretty darn well show up for a skydive. Dana and Ken spent a day with us on the ground in February before deciding as the snow began to fall they would just wait and come back at a warmer time of year! Congrats guys on finally making it out – we want to see you back soon!

We finally talked Loretta into letting us throw her out of the airplane! As expected once she went she just had to go again, one skydive is just not enough. I’d bet money that next time she is in town to visit us she will be well on her way to being a licensed skydiver. Thanks for the jumps girl!

We had first jump courses Saturday and Sunday. I have the feeling several of our newest students may be back in the near future to make their 2nd skydives – woo hoo – you guys rock! Big thanks to Brian M and Steve M for teaching our up and coming jumpers!

Speaking of up and coming jumpers… we had 2 AFF graduates this weekend. Amanda is growing up so fast! And you can not miss her in that fancy jumpsuit she’s sporting. Way to go girl – I can’t wait to do some coach jumps with you!

TJ also finished up his AFF jumps this weekend – he even managed to get in a coach jump before calling it a day. He was last seen nailing come sweet docks with Jeffy, tracking, standing up landings, and he even took a rig home with him to perfect his packing! HIM…. HIM…

The madness didn’t stop there. Neil finished up his yellow card and became the newest A license skydiver from the Bowling Green family! I’m getting the feeling that Neil is going to be making his way into a lot of our fun jumps in the up coming weeks. Neil – congrats on a job well done – now drag your better half out here and tell her I want to make a skydive with her soon!

We had global tandems Saturday. France, Spain and Sweden were all represented in BG! They thought the phrase “chicken wings” was all too funny and it’s an experience to shoot an intro video in another language!

We sang happy birthday on the way to altitude more this weekend that I can ever remember doing in the past. One of which was Bag’s wonderful niece. Bag’s brother was also out this weekend to make his 7th tandem jump – it’s a family thing! Bag – names and photo’s escape me – post some pics on the website – we so enjoyed having the family out to join in our fun!

Saturday came to an end late in the day and as usual – Sunday came bright and early! Sunday morning was a blast from the past for me. I walked into the hanger only to be face to face with 3 girls I graduated high school with! It so happens that TJ also graduated with us, so Sunday morning load one was a little class reunion up to 14,000ft!

A lot of our family was out making some hot skydives with us this weekend. Lenny, Gary, Banks, Sean, Kevin, Heath…. What can I say… nobody makes me laugh on the way to altitude like you do! And Theresa – keep making Bowling Green a stop on your flight plan – we love when you grace us with your presence! Hope to see you guys again this weekend J

The fabulous Calvin was out this weekend with a couple goons in tow. It was so nice to see your smiling face on the plane – the day just lights up when you have the charm of Cal-Mo-Dee laid on thick. Don’t be a stranger Cal, winter will come wayyyyy too soon, I’d like to make a few more skydives with you before I have to start wearing gloves again!

Steve Babin caught word that his canopy was having a good time flying over Bowling Green and decided to come see for himself! Steve made an excellent target in the landing area! Thank you Steve for entertaining us with stories sitting around the hanger, helping me stay packed, and chasing all of us around with your camera. It’s always our pleasure to have you visit and we are holding you rig hostage so that you come back to play with us again soon!

Alll photo's are by Mark C, Ashley K and Steve B - Steve thank you again for snapping all thoes wonderful shots on the ground for us! I would love to give you credit for each photo you took, if I could go back and look through them, but since I put the links in ahead of time I'll have to post it first! Feel free to claim yours!!!
Hope to see you all soon - thanks for another wonderful weekend in BG!
