Quantum Leap Formation Skydiving Team '07 - 2007/02/14 09:46 Hello All:

I am trying to get an early start this year to inquire about interest in forming a Formation Skydiving Team at Quantum Leap the 2007 season. Interested St. Louis peeps please read on:

I, personally, am interested in doing 4 Way or 10 Way and have competed in both at Nationals. 10 Way brought me home a Bronze medal and 4 Way ... Well, we didn't do so well at Nationals in '04 but in all fairness, we did lose one of our teammates, Jeff Tennyson to Army orders in Iraq right before Nationals.

I am still proud of my opportunities to learn from Nationals in '04 and to improve my skills tremendously in '06 by attending the Ultimate Skills 4 Way Camp in Eloy and learn from whom I consider, "The Best of the Best," Arizona Airspeed. Now I feel the need to nurture that burning desire inside of me and continue what I've learned, pass it on and learn more.

As far as goals and expectations, whether it is a 4 Way team, a 10 Way team or any team for that matter ... I do have a few goals and expectations for myself and potential team mates. We will start with expectations. The things I am looking for in a teammate are attitude, commitment and ability. This next part is taken out of an Arizona Airspeed Ultimate 4 Way Camp booklet:

1. Attitude
a) Flexible
* Willingness to change
* Ability to accept new ideas
* Willing to give new ideas 100%
* Able to accept that everything is not going to go your
way
b) Team Player
* Someone you can get along with
* Comfortable to make mistakes and willing to admit them
* Able to listen to teammates.
* Someone who will take charge when required
* Someone who can step back and let others be in control
c) Personal
* Good attitude towards learning
* Able to accept criticism
* Patience
* Remembers that skydiving is fun
* Doesn't criticize teammates
* Similar Goals
* Doesn't let the little things get to them
1. Commmitment
a) Personal
*Willing and able to commit to team training schedule
* Put in the extra effort on the long hard hot days
* On time to everything, never be last
* Will turn up for jumping alert and ready to go
b) Team
* Able to stick to the team plan
* Able to put the team first
* Sacrifice their own glory for thr good of the team
3. Ability
"It is not the same to talk of bulls as to be in the bullring." ~Spanish proverb
You can teach a monkey how to skydive, but it is much harder to change social habits (like picking the nits out of your fur).
Notice that there are two number ones; this is because each is equally important. Of course all of the above is ideal and most of all should apply to you. Because you will be someone's team mate. This is the ultimate team mate and certain compromises may have to be made, but why not strive for the best?

So that is Airspeed's shpeil and I am sticking with it. If anyone is interested in getting video experience and being on a Quantum Leap Formation skydiving team, please let me know.

Thanks for reading and Blue skies.
