Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 00:21 Ohhh I tell you I can totally relate. I am a FT IT/IS student who has been trying to write a paper for the past three days. Everytime I start to get into the grove, my mind will start wondering off into the clouds. I mean this is getting serious. Last night I must've researched at least 30 different skydiving topics. Everything from helmets to helmet mounted cameras, to skysurfing - RIP Rob Harris, to freeflying. I visited DropZone.com several times, I checked out Youtube and watched probably a dozen different videos. Heck I hav'nt even packed my own rig yet, and I'm already planning on what discipline I want to persue. Probably freeflying - although the bird-man suit flying looks awefully cool too. Decisions - decisions. Ha Ha!

Oh crazy - for now, I need to stay focused on school and then Saturday. AHH I can't wait for Saturday.

Blue Skys!

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 10:37 Ah yes,

another day and yes my thoughts are already getting diverted.

Oh well - I guess I should just accept my fate. Sell the kids, the house, everything in the house - buy all the sky diving gear I need and commit to a diet of daily cherrios and Roman noodles.

Ok reality check, I love my kids way too much and I've worked way too hard to get to where I am at. However, I have started making a list of things that I can sell and I've already started cutting back on my (eating out) expenditures. While I can't justify to my wife going out and buying a new rig; (She's been asking for boobs and a tummy tuck for the past year!) (She's almost finished breast feeding and she don't want her boobs hanging south!

I can start to save money on the side and sell my personal assets for my future purchases. That's fair, isn't it?

Yes, the weather is promising for Sat. See you then!

Blue Sky's!

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 11:49 Sorry bout the distraction...it's almost here tho!!

Yep, my way affordin' this cravin' I have all lined up also. Second job, no Christmas gifts till whenever, no birthday gifts, no anniversary gifts...this is it. For me that is, I couldn't be so mean to him. The whole eatin out thing luckily isn't an issue with me...cook ALL the time.
Boobs!! lol..So I breastfed for 3+ years...yep, I begged and begged for some boobies then we skydived and I was like skydive, skydive, skydive! He says boobs or skydivin' well the obvious choice here yep! I'll appreciate em more when I'm 40 or 50!! I'll wait on those!! lol...

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 12:23 LOL, it seems we have a few commonalities.

Wow 3+ year's. The savings from the everyday cooking and the breast feeding is huge. Seriously have you ever figured up how much $ you saved your family by staying away from formula? That savings alone could justify quite a few jumps (in this Man's opinion.)

Heck, that's part of my wifes justification for not going back to work after she was laid off. The other one - is cost savings from Day care expense. Heck she'd would be able to produce a spreadsheet a mile long of the $ she has saved us to justify her staying home. I must give her credit though - she is co-owner in a Internet based business saintcharlesshave.com she still manages to pay her fair share of the bills.

Anyway's, maybe someday you'll be able to have the best of both worlds. I'll be sure to pass on your philosohpy about the new boobs versus skydiving. It would be a whole lot easier if we both had the same interests and loves besides our kids.

Take care,

Mark

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 12:46 So yea, it's a big round figure of savings. Not to mention ALL the benefits of breastfeeding. Even more for the mommies. Lowers the risk of them boobies cancer and ovarian cancer, osteoporosis...I could go on and on! It's funny how conversation can go from one thing to another. Skydivin'-boobies-breastfeedin'....hmm.
Anyway...
I wish my husband felt the same way about skydivin' too. I mean he really enjoyed his jump but not like me. He could think of a lot more things to spend thousands on...me too, but this is far more important!

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 13:38 LOL,

oh yah that's what wonderful about communicating and getting to know somebody; you never know which direction you might end up. For me, I've been an online student for the past two years, so I have developed a habit of letting my fingers do the talking. Actually, it has been several years since I have chatted in a format such as this. Usually I'm much too busy researching and/or reading. This whole skydiving things got me a bit off balance, however I must say I'm enjoying it. Currently I'm in the middle of a practice test. When I feel like taking a break I check in to see what you had to say.

A little history on my start 11 years ago in skydiving. I worked at Ford Motor Co. and set up a group of my friends to go out to Quantum Leap. 14 signed up 7 folks gave me $ deposits and only 2 others besides me actually showed up. One guy (a big strong dude) was so nervous in the air that he would lose grip of his ripcord and freeze up. His jump career: AFF level 1 failed, 2nd attempt passed. AFF Level 2 1st attempt -failed. (2 lost ripcords) He ended up giving up. This sport is not for everyone, and everyone who tries it is not going to be hooked for many different reasons. This guy finally admited to me that he was scarred shitless and he was trying to act like a {tough guy} but failed.

Anyway's I learned that you should not rely on anyone to go skyding with you. Basic Skydiving is a solo event and if you rely on other people to join you, than you might not ever leave the ground. I can't tell you the # of stories I have been told, "I've always wanted to jump, but......"

Of course you've already passed this point because you've scratched the surface and realize Bowling Green is not THAT far away.

Ok test time - thanks for listening.

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 14:11 My husband and I tried to jump in February...it was our 5th anniversary present to each other. I have always always always wanted to jump and finally had opportunity. I drug him out and we sat with a group of wonderfully hilarious people for a few hours but the clouds were too low and we weren't able to jump that day. Man, talk about a buzz kill! A girlfriend of mine was in need of some desperate help which meant moving her from east tn with 4 out of control kids to our house which meant sacrifice the skydive a little longer. We completely helped her out for 3 months for her to just go back to her husband. pheww...that sucked. So we finally decided to jump a month ago and I've been raggin in his ears ever since. So he loves me.....

His sister was so mad at us for goin. Ya'll have kids what if ya'll didn't make it back...blah, blah. She'd understand if she'd just do it. Maybe I dunno maybe not. She was really on me last weekend about wantin to go for real this time. What if your kids end up with no mother. Nah, I say. Ken's a good lookin' guy, he's sweet and smart...he'll find a good chick to finish my job!! lol..nah j/k. What about that drive you made from across the country...what if some drunk driver hit you. What if you died in childbirth and your other children had no mother, what if you die gettin in that tannin bed, or hey I know a little boy who died from eatin hot dogs..you better not put that hot dog in your mouth!!! Sorry it's nap time and I'm bored!! lol..

Re:SOO SOO EXCITED!! - 2008/09/04 14:52 Ah quiet time, it's nice to have time for yourself isn't it?

About the sister-in-law, oh yah - you'll run into her type a lot. They flat out don't understand and they never will. It is a fact the most dangerous part about skydiving is the drive there and back. Trying to explain why we do what we do (jump out of perfectly good airplanes) is near impossible to someone who has never felt it. I do not have a death wish, I do not want to play with death. The reason why I jump out of that plane is the entire experience - the fealings I get from about 15 minutes from arriving at the DZ - to when I start to gear up - to when I'm loading onto the plane - to when the door opens and folks start jumping, etc. To be honest - I am somewhat scarred before I jump, but when I'm in the air oh my - that feeling is better than any other. And I've done quite a bit. Good skiier, snowboarder (2nd favorite sport), rock climber, H20 skiier (jumped, salomed and barefooted), dirt bikes, bungee cord jumped, etc.

I ride a motorcycle almost every day - why? My wife considers me completly irresponsible for doing so. I don't have a death wish, I happen to absolutely love the feeling I get when I'm on that bike. I must admit - I probably ride it more now than ever because of the cost savings. Life to me is about taking chances and living it to the fullest. Skydiving is one way that I have found to satisfy my craves and quest for fullfillment. For awhile drugs took over as that satisfaction - but that was fake, stupid and yes more dangerous than skydiving ever will be. I've also never been one to be in the status quo - I do things that I want to do, not because everyone else is doing them.

p.s. I just mastered my test and now I should be heading home to beat the trafic.

Blue Skys - Saturday!
